{"id":1431,"date":"2011-10-31T14:43:56","date_gmt":"2011-10-31T21:43:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.seasidemedicalpractice.com\/dev\/\/dev\/blog\/?p=189"},"modified":"2011-10-31T14:43:56","modified_gmt":"2011-10-31T21:43:56","slug":"food-journals-no-sweat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.seasidemedicalpractice.com\/dev\/food-journals-no-sweat\/","title":{"rendered":"Food Journals &#8211; No Sweat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One simple and effective way to lose weight is keeping a Food Journal.\u00a0 What you eat and how much of what you eat contributes to your current weight.\u00a0 Before you change your lifestyles in order to drop inches, you must realize that your success is due, in large part to your diet. \u00a0The rest includes exercise and other factors.<\/p>\n<p>One&#8217;s first food journal does not have to be detailed.\u00a0 It is a mere reflection of your day&#8217;s menu.\u00a0 After a week, you will be better able to reflect on the details of what was consumed.\u00a0 After a month, you might be able to see some patterns.\u00a0 Although your first journal does not have to be comprehensive, I am sure you will eventually add or subtract information that is more meaningful to you. These journals are private, so be honest with yourself!\u00a0 If you ate a bowl of ice cream at midnight, log it.\u00a0 Only you will know.\u00a0 It will motivate you.\u00a0 In the future, if you don&#8217;t want to see ice cream in your food journal, you won&#8217;t eat the ice cream.<\/p>\n<p>To start a Food Journal, a small notebook and a pen is sufficient.\u00a0 Write down the date at the top of the page.\u00a0 On the next line, write &#8220;Breakfast&#8221;, and jot down what you ate.\u00a0 On the next few lines, do the same with lunch, dinner, and snacks. \u00a0Don&#8217;t forget to record liquids.<\/p>\n<p>As time goes on, you could add in categories such as calories, protein, carbs, and how many minutes you exercised that day.\u00a0 You could even record your weekly weight to monitor your progress.<br \/>\nAnother great thing about journals is that you can add any significant events or emotions that may have affected your eating pattern.\u00a0 I know that personally, when I am stressed, I will have an extra snack at night.\u00a0 Seeing this in my journal allows me to be creative and think of other ways to unwind.<\/p>\n<p>These days, Food Journals are becoming easier and easier to make.\u00a0 I personally use a free application called MyFitnessPal.\u00a0 What I really like about the electronic method of Food Journaling is that I do not need a nutrition book and calculator to add up my day&#8217;s calories.\u00a0 These amazing apps have an extensive system and it quickly summarizes the amount of calories, proteins, vitamins and much more for me.\u00a0 What I find extremely useful on them is a large variety of ethnic foods. \u00a0Another perk about these applications are the weight logs.\u00a0 After inputting your weight, the application actually graphs your weight!\u00a0 You can easily see your body&#8217;s trend, whether your weight is goes up, down, or if you are stable.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re serious about weight loss, give Food Journal a try.\u00a0 It is a wonderful proactive step towards better health!<br \/>\nChristine Soriano, PA-C<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One simple and effective way to lose weight is keeping a Food Journal.\u00a0 What you eat and how much of what you eat contributes to your current weight.\u00a0 Before you change your lifestyles in order to drop inches, you must realize that your success is due, in large part to your diet. \u00a0The rest includes [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2638,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_seopress_robots_primary_cat":"none","_seopress_titles_title":"Why You Should Keep A Food Journal","_seopress_titles_desc":"A way many people take a hold of their weight loss is by keeping a journal and actively recording everything they eat.
